Page Builder or CSS? Makin adjustments in Blask

I was wondering if there was a specific page builder plug-in that is preferred in the blask theme? Blask is great for a minimal portfolio look but there are not many options to play with the aesthetic or add some other features. I have been using elementor page builder plug-in, but I am not finding it super friendly with the blask theme. I’ve done several tutorials and more familiar with wordpress and creating posts. The person I am building the site for really wants the blask theme. How does a someone spice their website aesthetically? Do plugin programs like Elementor or any other page builder work better on some themes more than others? Should I spice this site up by learning some css? I am fimilar with some html and css
