Page cache: Enhanced application/octet-stream download instead of text/html/ht
-
I have a new site, hosted on SSDNodes + RunCloud (OpenLiteSpeed). Elementor Pro+Zakra Pro, single page business card site. It is sometimes working, but sometimes sending the page as application/octet-steam instead of text/html, which results in the browser trying to download the page as a file rather than display it. It occurs on Firefox, Edge, Chrome/Incognito, so it shouldn’t be browser cache. I’ve restarted OpenLiteSpeed and that didn’t seem to clear it, so I don’t think it’s an OLS cache. I have W3 Total Cache installed, and have purged all caches there.
Further investigation reveals it’s triggered by Page Cache being on (I set it to Disk Enhanced). Disabling Page Cache resolves the issue but isn’t a great solution.
A similar error was reported but not really resolved two years ago: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/page-cache-trigger-download-instead-of-showing-the-page/I have checked and none of my OLD config file (htaccess, etc) seem to have the default_type application/octet-stream; that the old issue suggests removing.
