    I am trying to move my site to a Digital Ocean server using their WordPress application image (one click install). I’ve had a lot of luck with this setup in the past, runs very well, very fast even under high traffic loads. I have done this many times in the past without a hitch but today with one particular site the regular page content is missing.

    I can’t understand it. The data is in the database and even when I view the pages in the visual or text editor, then the content IS there.

    I can’t understand what could be causing this. I thought perhaps a corrupted database but I tried deleting it, re-exporting and re-importing from scratch and I got the same result.

    Only the regular page content is missing, everything else appears as normal and seems to work. The site has a custom theme and there is a lot of page content that comes from custom fields on the pages and all that content even shows, it’s just the regular content that’s missing.

    Is there anyway to troubleshoot or fix this?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    None of that helps at all except changing the theme, then the content magically reappears but that is not helpful because this site is not going to work with any other theme. The theme is heavily customized.

    What else can I do?

    I also tried deleting and reimporting the database, no help.
