Yes, it seems it does not exist anymore.

So how is it that it still responds to being used in my original site and is build able as a theme for the new one? (sorry if this is a rookie question)

Even if not updated, a theme will work to some extent with WordPress until it is too far from the latest version of WordPress. Then it breaks. And it can break WordPress. The same with plugins.
Themes can have security vunerabilities, also, so keeping a theme updated in step with WordPress is the best bet for a good theme.
I would strongly advise you to consider another theme for both your sites: https://www.ads-software.com/themes/

Yes on 4.4.1 on both sites.

Any recommendations for a new theme that’s responsive or much like the Fluid theme I’ve been using?

I really don’t like to reccommend themes or plugins. With themes, there are so many varibles, particular needs of a website, and personal preferences that it would be almost impossible to suggest a theme or two.

Well now I can’t access either site via WP, I just keep getting error messages.
Very strange and frustrating as I just uploaded new images to the nomadic site this afternoon.

Get the same message when trying the site by itself as well as the wp-admin logon.

perhaps you attempted to login too many times and it kept failing. The might have considered it an malicious login attempt.

Also ask them why your login is being redirected from https://nomadicevents.com/ to https://www.nomadicevents.com/
