    I’ve re-saved permalinks, disabled all plug-ins, etc.

On mobile only, the only page that works is the home page. very simple, nothing going on except basic page content.

the for employers and for job seekers both show “Not Found” on mobile.

I was on 2.4.3 – installed from WordPress. I upgraded to 2.4.5 – downloaded from the theme developer’s site.

    No change. :-/

    Hey Matt,
What is your permalink setting? Try changing it to Post Name and re-save. Let me know if the issue remains.

Already did that.. several times. It is Post Name.

Disabled plug-ins, re-enabled, disabled again. Kept disabled.

I’ve altered the permalinks and changed them back.

In Settings > Reading do you have a page set as your Posts Page? That needs to be left blank.

    Thread Starter Matthew Moran

    (@cbtoolkit)

Okay.. why? I now have it blank. It still isn’t working.

How many specific things must be set in a non-standard way to make the theme work?

I have the home page set to my about page? When I want to add the blog, what page would that show up on?

    hannah

    (@hannahritner)

Sorry, I know this is annoying. The theme works great as is. I’m just trying to figure out what was turned on to cause it to not work. All the pages (including the blog) will pull from the template you have it set on and setting the post page would override the template.
So, with the post page set to blank try re-saving permalinks once more. Let me know if there’s any change.

So should I have it set to:
    -> Recent Posts?

What I want is NO blog entries on the home page.
I want it go go to the “About page” or a page of my choosing for the Home page.

I want 2 other static pages, no sidebar.

I want, eventually, a link to the blog in the menu.

I had used the full-width template but now am back to default.. although, that is NOT what I want.

It seems that the theme authors have made this overly challenging. I like the simple and responsive layout but too many non-standard settings that can “break” the theme is a problem.

    hannah

    (@hannahritner)

It is not meant to be a challenge. I’m sorry it feels that way.
The only major issue i’m seeing is the 404 page not found and this is typically a permalink issue. Can you confirm your pages have been published? When you preview them from the edit page are they showing?
You still can absolutely set the front page to your about page (or whatever page). It’s only the post page that works better when left blank as to not override the theme template.
Is your full-width template not working? Have you selected fullwidth in Theme Options > Home Layout?
The theme developer will be on within the hour and I’m sure he can provide further information if needed.

Here is what the issue is/was…

Any time I published the pages, the timestamped changed and they page showed as scheduled. Not sure why.

I’ve set the page publish date to 2 days ago.. that seems to work.

I’ve set the default page to the “about page” as desired.

If I want to have a “blog” page – when they start blogging- and I cannot set the blog page to a specific page, what is the URL for that? I want to add it to the menu.

    Thanks.

    hannah

    (@hannahritner)

Not sure why the timestamp was changing? Glad you figured it out!

For a blog page you just need to create a new page and call it Blog (or whatever ) and set the template (under Page Attributes) to blog. Then you would create posts and the posts will appear on the blog page. Then you would just add the blog page to the menu (Appearance > Menus) in the same way that you added the other pages. Does that make sense?

    (@cbtoolkit)

Yes.. I understand how that works. The template determines that the blog posts go to that page, not what I set in the settings->reading.

    Thanks!
