I’ve gone through the entire install process and I’ce done it 3 times but everytime I try to run the install.php file it says that it’s not found. I can see the file in my ftp program so I know it’s there. Anyone know what the problem is? Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Hello

Not sure exactly what the problem could be. Though lets check the top possibilities.

    1. You have created a database, a database user and a database password.
    2. You have adjusted the wp-config-sample.php to include the above info and renamed it wp-config.php.
    3. Then you uploaded that and all other files to your server, and browsed to https://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/install.php

That should take you to a page that either begins the setup process or lists the error(s) that may be occuring.

If you have done all the above and get an error post the error here.

I’ve made sure the database name, user name and password are correct. I’ve double-checked to make sure that they are right in the wp-config.php file and I can see everything on the server. I still get a basic ‘page not found’ error page when I try to go to the install.php page. Here is what it looks like.

    “The page cannot be found

The only thing I can think of doing is changing the DB name and user name to the user name I use to ftp to my server. I’m going crazy here so any help is greatly appreciated.

this isnt’ a db problem if the page can’t be found.

Where did you install your blog? Got a link?

I actaully found a thread with someone that had a similar problem. I’m switching my host from Windows format to Linux in hopes that will resolve the issue. I’ve deleted my DB and everything off my server and going to start from scratch when it is reset to Linux. If it’s still not working I will post again, but I think this will solve the problem. Thanks to everyone for their help thus far.

Ok, so I’ve switched over to Linux and uploaded everything. I’ve changed the wp-config.php file to correspond to my database. But, when i try to run the install.php file I get an database error that says it’s unable to connect to the database. I’ve pasted the error below. I’ve called GoDaddy and they said I have to set up tables within the database. Any comments or help from anyone?

    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at mysql127.secureserver.net. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

Search the forums (here) for GoDaddy… tons of threads and a few of ’em have assorted fixes specifically for your host.

The solution is to have absolutely positive YES answers for the questions in the Error message.
(Forget GD’s “answer” about the tables: WP will create them if it can connect to the DB)

    hello

I am unsure of Godaddy’s hosting, but the problem is in the wp-config.php file. Eitehr with the username, database name, database password or the host address.

I see this: mysql127.secureserver.net is this what Godaddy specificially said to enter for the host address/ Otehrwise most likely you just need to leave it set to localhost.

I’m going crazy here. I’ve decided that GD support is incompetent. I’m am absolutely positive that my database name, user password and location are correct. I can see everything except for the password on the site and have copied and pasted the info into the wp-config.php file and uploaded it. I have also confirmed the password. Please help.
