    Hello,

Thanks for your message. We see you correctly set up a Shortcode of type “Cars List” and linked it to the page “our-cars”. In order to resolve any possible 404 error code, we suggest to make sure to have at least another active type of Shortcode, which is the “Order Details”.

You should check the list of Shortcodes available in VikRentCar and if you’re missing one of type “Order Details”, you should create it and add it to a WordPress page so that all the URL routing functions will work correctly during the booking process.

In case you already have an active Shortcode of type “Order Details”, then the issue should be inspected at network level to understand if the rental order confirmation page is blocked by some sort of redirection (HTTP code 301 or 303) made by a third-party plugin.

    We hope this is helpful!

    Hello VikWP Team,

Thank you very much for the information. I deleted the shortcodes and created fresh pages out of the shortcodes and check the booking procedure, unfortunately it still ends up with 404 error. Although the car is booked successfuly and is reflected in the Vik dashboard with all the details. Its just that after confirming order it ends with 404 error. I checked the plugin also but couldn’t find the fault, attached here is url of the plugin list – https://ibb.co/tc9JmwR

    Thanks,
    Deepak

    Hi,

Thanks for the information. We don’t think that’s a conflict with any third-party plugin, especially because the HTTP status with code 404 indicates that the page was not found. This usually happens when the plugin is unable to redirect the user to the front-end order details page right after the new rental order gets saved onto the database.

Our suggestion is to open the Shortcodes page in the wp-admin section of VikRentCar to see if one Shortcode of type “Order Details” is available, and if is linked to an existing page on your website. By clicking the button to view the page in front-site, the system should display a message like “Insufficient data received”, because of course that URL expects to receive secret values in the URL query string to find an exact rental order. In any case, this still indicates that the Shortcode of type “Order Details” is correctly configured.

In case you keep having problems, we suggest getting in touch with our technical team through our websites so that we can help you investigate on the issue.

    Thank you,

    Hello Team,

Thanks again for the response. I managed to fix the issue. The shortcode for “search car” was added on the home page and when created a separate page for the same, all functionalities worked just fine. Probably the plugin isn’t compatible with most car rental wordpress themes or vice versa.
I have now added a button on my home page that redirects the user to search form (not the best solution!) I faced the similar issue in the vik hotel booking plugin(I have the pro one). So, before buying the vik car rental plugin I wanted to try different theme, but I’ll settle for free version for now.

Thanks again for all your help on this issue. I’m marking this ticket as resolved.

    Thanks,
    Deepak

    Hello Deepak,

We are glad to hear you were able to solve the issue, and thanks for sharing the information!

The thing is exactly as you said. The routing functions will not really work when you start the booking process from the Home Page. This is because the home page has got no permalink values. What we suggest in these cases is to actually publish a widget in the home page, and to use the Shortcodes on any other page except the home page.

Also, with the upcoming updates for all our plugins (as of today, January 2024), widgets will be available as official Gutenberg blocks to comply with the recent Full-Site-Editing (FSE) functionalities native of WordPress. This means that publishing a widget in the home page will be even easier.
