Hello thanks in advance for your assistance. I am a beginner. I am using word press 6.6.2

After editing the main (welcome) static page on my site, I save changes or If I go to the right of the screen and click on ‘published’ then go to the top and select ‘now’

If I saved changes It says its updated and a popup says view page.

After clicking on ‘view page’ or navigating to the page/site, the changes aren’t reflected there. In fact the page hasnt seemed to update any of the changes from a while ago.

From the ‘pages’ area if I ‘view’ the page it is as it appears online.

However if I choose ‘edit’ this page contains my changes and is the one I would like to succesfully make live (publish).

I have tried the BOT’s suggestions on wordpress.com I have cleared the browser cache and also tried MS edge or Opera browsers with the same result. I have searched the forums for the same issue however the solutions were either based around the static page settings or cache clearing.

What am I missing here? Apologies if I am not doing this correctly.

    Thanks in advance again.

    Kind regards

    Martin

I have tried the BOT’s suggestions on wordpress.com

Is your site a wordpresss.COM site?

If not, in addition to clearing browser cache, also try:
    – Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches. Not just your browser, but any op cache or content network cache as well such as Cloudflare. That will solve many weird JavaScript issues.
    – Flushing Managed host caches. Managed WP hosting often has special caches. If your host has a “Purge Varnish” or “Flush Memcache” tool, try that. You can ask your provider to flush memcache and Varnish for you if necessary.

Sorry for the delay. I mistakenly replied to the notification email instead.

Its a dot.org site (was having trouble finding support and ended up at the dot.com)

I have deactivated all plugins (only had one).

Sorry, just so I understand, you are saying go to the site that is actually hosting the domain and clear the described caches?

    Cheers

Ok. I have removed all plugins and the host has updated the mem cache.

I did get a cloudflare error just afterwards however I do not understand or can find any reference to it. What else can I try? Is there someone who may be able to investigate further or give further assistance?

Ok so I have made a huge error here I guess. It seemed to me that WordPress is designed for DIY and for people with small businesses and not for profit groups etc. Clearly I have the wrong impression and my expectations have led me astray. This is the fourth out of five websites I need to create with wordpress. However I cannot make the current one operate correctly. In the past I have been assisted by tech support. As far as I can see, there no longer is support. A non-responsive forum in my view does not count as support. I am now looking for an alternative site builder and will be happy to share my feedback with anyone who is interested. Sorry for any inconvenience caused, but clearly my expectations were misguided as to what was achievable with my experience, knowledge and your software. Perhaps it is a case of Hosting sites over stating the benefits of WordPress to sell hosting.
