    Hello!

I’m on shared hosting at Bluehost and after the upgrade to WordPress 5.2 I can no longer update any existing page or post with the Gutenberg block editor and I cannot make any new pages or posts either. When attempting to do so, I get a light red bar at the top of the post stating “Updating failed”. When I go to Tools/Site Health I am told that “The REST API did not process the context query parameter correctly.” PHP is 7.3. If I install the Classic Editor I can post and edit all day long.

All plugins and themes have been eliminated as possible contributors to the REST API status. Everything worked like a Swiss watch until WordPress 5.2 landed – at least from my perspective as I’m obviously not tending the server.

    Thank you for your assistance!

  • I am experiencing a similar problem to the one discussed in this post.

I disabled the plugins on my site.

I did a health-check and obtained the following results:

    You should remove inactive plugins
“they are disabled in an attempt to solve the problem but it doesn’t work”
    You should remove inactive themes
Your WordPress version is up to date (5.2)
PHP is up to date (7.3.0)
SQL server is up to date

HTTP requests seem to be working as expected
Your site is not set to output debug information
“if I need to perform this step to look for a specific thing, I need suggestions for this please”
    The REST API is available

I have contacted the support team of the people that host my site but they have suggested I contact WordPress directly

Given the above, I would appreciate your help to resolve my current problem, as I depend on the information I post.

Thank you in advance for your help with this matter,

    Elena

Hi welcome, can you report the error that GUTERBANG prints to you?

Instruction for backup https://codex.www.ads-software.com/WordPress_Backups so if something goes wrong you can go back
Try what is written here including the javascript solution.
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/page-post-updating-failed-wordpress-5-2-rest-api-context-query-parameter/#post-11521572

If you don’t use guterbang or set up graceful URLs in permalinks (remember to memorize which use of the permalinks you use so after you can go back without errors http 404.), will the problem be solved?
if you have disabled all the plugins and set the default theme, there is some javascript error that will surely be caused by a cache.

Note* Please for the next few times write your problem on a new topic and if you use a plugin or theme the most appropriate section will be the support section dedicated to them.
If you write in a solved topic it is difficult to check new messages and your help request may not be read.
