• Here’s a question for you fellow coders out there. I’m pretty sure there’s a plugin for this. At least, I remember googling for a plugin but the page I got had that plugin as for 2.03 and below.

After installing quite a few plugins which didn’t match up entirely with my latest wordpress software for my site (i.e malfunctions occurring when I installed that plugin), I’m shaky on getting a plugin that hasn’t been tested fully with the latest wordpress software I have installed.

So, here’s a question for you fine people.

Here’s my site so you’ll know what I’m talking about. (I hate it when someone asks for help but is vague about it).

    Site: https://www.emovienews.com

Here’s the question. As you can see, my pages show up in my navigation bar underneath the header for my theme. I’m fine with that, in fact I like it.

But let’s say I want to make a page for a “Forums” that will link directly to my forum software (outside of the blog software) on my server. If I were to install VB forum software and put it my root html folder so it shows up at emovienews/forums url.

How would I put up a Page like function that shows up in my navigation bar on my wordpress blog so a user whom clicks on the “Forums” link is clicked immediately to my emovienews/folder url.

I’d like to do the same for some other things as well..like a newly styled custom built Release Date, Box Office Page and Trailer section built in html or php outside of my blog software. I’d like these links to show up as “Pages” sorta by showing up on my main blog url in the navigation link bar but when a User clicks on them, they’d be transported to the correct page outside of the blog software.

Any help would be appreciated here.

  • Moshu’s got the Redirectify plugin at the bottom of this page:

Thanks Michael, I believe that’s the one. The author’s homepage has it as setup for 1.5 version of WordPress so I was questioning whether this one won’t cause problems on WordPress’ latest software.

I downloaded it and I’ll test it soon and see if it causes any other problems with any of the other site content.

    Thanks for your help.

Sorry. Back again with a question or two because perhaps someone has come across this problem before with the “redirectify” plugin.

I created a new Page titled Forums, left the content aspect blank and put in the custom field value redirect value=forum url.

After clicking “Publish” it’s not showing up.

Anyone else have this problem with their redirectify installs?

I’ve looked up Owen’s site but can’t seem to find documentation on what I’m running into here since this plugin was last tested on 1.5.1. Owen’s moved onto other things obviously and even at his redalt site, I can’t find the documentation or help forms to ask a question or check for issues on it.

Perhaps someone reading here will know why the new page isn’t being published because they’ve experienced the same problem.

Is there a way around this? Does there have to be content for the page to be published?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Nevermind. As much as I love Matt and WordPress, the response time can be somewhat attrocious.

Problem solved thanks to testing and Common Creative license.

hmm… and how did you do that?
I mean, get the Redirectify Plugin workin?

Got it… First create a page with normal text, publish it, and then add the tag. No idea why, but seems to work
