Hi, I used to have a page speed of 90+ on Google PageSpeed Insights. Now, I have only 35 ??. I thought, this is caused by the Complianz plugin. So, I just deactivated the plugin and the the test said 53. Then I tested it again and then it said 36. Now, I am confused. When checking the issues, it says reduce unused JavaScript. What do you guys think? Is it acutally the Complianz plugin or not? ??

    Hi @agenturfinder,

Could it be that the described difference is because one of them concerns the results of the Mobile test, and the other report concerns the results of a Desktop test?

As it’s a rather notable decrease, this would be my first suspicion, instead of the difference being the result between having Complianz enabled or disabled.

If you click the “Reduce unused JavaScript” message in the report, this will also list the scripts that it concerns; so you can verify whether this contains any mention about Complianz scripts.

    Hope it helps!

    Kind regards, Jarno

Nope, it does not say Complianz. It says Google Tag Manager, Elfsight and Hotjar. However they are only a few KiB. So, I don’t really get why all of a sudden my page speed is so slow. Desktop seems “alright” with 73 but still I had like 90+ each.

Something else I recently changed and then made it backwards were the animations. However, they are also all off atm.

Ah, and something else I had to change were the Google fonts. I had to save them locally due to GDPR-stuff.

    May this be the reason?

    Hi @agenturfinder,

The fonts may indeed be related, the report also seems to concern various JavaScript that loads on the page (although Complianz doesn’t seem to be much of a contributing factor here).

Your optimization tool(s) can help to improve this, with features such as “Delay JS Execution” etc.

Some of the items as mentioned in the report concern tags fired with Google Tag Manager, so you could decide to block GTM entirely before consent in Complianz is obtained (https://complianz.io/how-to-set-google-tag-manager-after-consent-and-is-it-needed/) for a quick win.

    Kind regards, Jarno
