Hybrid Custom Query page question

I am trying to use the Query Posts Page Template and it says to replace the meta ‘Query’ with “cat=1&showposts=5”

I’m not sure where to put “cat=1&showposts=5.” I tried putting it in the template where it says ‘Query’ and it didn’t display anything.

Where do I put it?
