page title at the top of browser

i just had a new theme installed, and now the title that appears at the top of the browser has changed. if you go to the blog home page, it shows the title and tagline…and then the title again. if you click on a post or a page, it shows the title of the post or page…and then the blog title shows up twice! i have checked my settings for the title and tagline and they are both entered correctly. i’m not sure why the title is showing up twice, but i’d like to fix it. could anyone give me some guidance as to how i could correct this problem? thank you so much!
