    Hi all.

Newbie here. Because of “reasons”, I’m now in charge of making minor revisions to our site in-house after a dispute with the site devs.

The devs turned everything over to my company, but for some reason, the tab for the home page is displaying as “Home Revised – XXXX XXXX”, and not “Home – XXXX XXXX” as it should be.

I’ve checked the settings on the Home Page in the Dashboard > Pages. And also Dashboard > Settings > General, and there’s nothing that reads as “Home Revised – XXXX XXXX”.

The tab reads correctly when I “Preview” the page within the “dev.wpengine.com” context. I published that page, no but luck.

I’m sure I’m missing something stupid on my end. Any ideas?

    TIA.

  • Hi @mikes66,

Do you mean the title of the home page tab in the browser?

Looking at the source code of your site, I see the <title> tag is set to “Home Revised – Display Group” in your Yoast SEO configuration, so perhaps this could cause the issue you’re facing.

You can try reviewing and updating the Yoast SEO configuration and settings in your WordPress admin dashboard.

    Hope this helps.

Hello — Thanks so much for replying. That’s exactly the issue.

I see what you’re referring to when viewing the live site’s source code, but for the life of me can’t find that HTML within the dashboard/home page. And there’s nothing in the Yoast settings (we don’t have a paid version, it was installed by the devs).

    Sorry to be a nuisance.

No need to apologize for asking! That’s what the WordPress forums are for ??

I opened the site in different browsers, and the title in the home page tab now reads “Display Group – Event Production, Rentals, & Design,” so I just wanted to follow up. Were you finally able to find where to change it?

    Hello again.

I couldn’t find it so I reached out to the ex-devs and received this:

“All those are controlled by the section at the bottom of the page called Yost SEO. That controls the search appearance and Page Title tag that sets up what you see in the tab bar.?

I have pulled the most recent page title and Description from our SEO teams work. So that has been updated, You can see that by logging in below:”

He appears to have fixed it, but I can’t find where in the Yoast settings the tab/page title info is, unless it’s under “SEO Title”. The thing is, if that’s where the info goes, it has never said “Home Revised – Display Group” at any point today.

In any case, I really appreciate your help. Take care.

    Hi @mikes66,

I’m glad this was fixed! If you go into the page that you have marked to be displayed as the homepage (in the “All Pages” screen on the left menu), at the bottom of it, you can also find the Yoast settings option for that specific page. I think that’s the location they are likely referring to. I hope this helps!

If you feel the question has been answered, marking this topic as resolved whenever you have a chance would be a great help.

    Thank you!

Hello — I found the place to change the info within Yoast. The thing is I had found this field before I even posted here, and I know for certain that at no point did that field ever read “Home Revised – Display Group”, or I would have fixed it myself.

The devs confirmed that the “SEO Title” field is where that info goes. I get the feeling they screwed something up before turning over the site access, fixed it when I pointed it out, and framed it as if I were doing something wrong.

Thanks again — marked as resolved! ??
