When editing this page I was unable to remove an H2 heading block (the normal block editing panel did not appear) so I went into code editing and removed it easily. However, whenever I take the cursor up near the top right hand corner to click the Exit Code Editor link, the blue page Update button drops down and covers the link.

When editing, all the pages are now in Code Editing.

Is there any way of keeping the Exit Code Editor link available to click?

    I am using WordPress 6.3.1

  • Which editor do you use? Can you show a screenshot of what you see? Feel free to upload it here: https://imgur.com

Gutenberg editor – normally. Though right now I am in code editing.

Never used imgur before, but here goes:

Here’s the screen before I attempt to Exit Code Editing – notice link at top right hand corner

Here’ the screen when I attempt to click the link – the page update button obscures the link.

I am contemplating re-installing WordPress 6.3.1 – and if that doesn’t work reinstalling the site from backup. But I’d be delighted if you could suggest something less drastic.

Ah, now I understand. You are in distraction-free mode, which means that the update-button appears when you move the mouse on the top. Click on the 3 dots to the right of the update button and then on “Distraction free”. Then you are back in the mode where the update button is always available (which is normally also active).

If you still want to use Distraction free and have a problem with it, report the problem to the Gutenberg team: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues

Thanks! That has resolved the problem, as well as the original issue of not having the block editing panel come up when I clicked a block. Thanks again, I am a happy bunny.
