• Hi

I’m having a problem with permalinks for pages on my site. I want one page to have the slug https://sitename.com/young/skin and another to be https://sitename.com/free/skin. I need to do this without a plugin. When I change the permalink by typing in “young/skin” in the URL slug box it defaults it to “young-skin” and the same happens when typing “free/skin” (becomes “free-skin”).

Is there a way for me too keep it as “…free/skin”? I hope my question makes sense and is clear. Please note this question applies to pages and NOT posts

Is the need to specifically have the URL’s you want to resolve based on a previous site’s URL’s?

I would, when tasked with that scenario, use 301 Redirect Rules in the new site’s .htaccess file to redirect the old URL(s) to new ones.

I suggest a review of 301 Redirect Rules and how to use them.

Once in place, anyone that has the old URL will end up at your new page (the URL of the new page can be whatever you want such as a single page’s ‘slug’). Search engines will soon discover that rule in place and index the new URL.

This a common practice when updating old sites.
