About a week ago, Jetpack stats starting going up, and at first I thought “yay, more traffic.” But yesterday there was an inexplicable spike (nearly 3x many views as last week), and in looking more closely, I see that the visitor count looks about right – in keeping within expected range compared to previous weeks – but the views are just way too high. How can I fix this?

Stats are even more out of whack today: twice as many views as same day last week with 1K fewer visitors. While I’d love to average 9 views per visitor, it’s impossible.

I ran the debug and it says everything is ok, but clearly it’s not.

I had a similar issue, a ticket raised here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/yesterday-and-todays-stats-merged/

In my case, it was Thursday and Friday views combined – might be a similar issue for you. No reply to my ticket as yet either.

I have reviewed some Google Analytics alternatives. One of them is Jetpack Stats. One thing Jetpack Stats falls short on is bot filtering. Jetpack Stats does not filter out some bots, and users also do not have the capability to add certain bots to be filtered out.

    Hi @algustionesa,

I have?reviewed some Google Analytics alternatives. One of them is Jetpack Stats. One thing Jetpack Stats falls short on is bot filtering. Jetpack Stats does not filter out some bots, and users also do not have the capability to add certain bots to be filtered out.

While Jetpack Stats does its best to filter out bot visits, it may not be as robust in bot filtering as some other dedicated analytics platforms. However, it’s essential to understand the primary aim of Jetpack Stats is to provide a straightforward, easy-to-understand analytics solution, particularly for WordPress users. While it may not have comprehensive bot filtering capabilities, it still offers many other benefits.

For one, Jetpack Stats is seamlessly integrated into your WordPress dashboard, so there’s no need for any additional software or to leave your website to see your stats. It’s a user-friendly tool that provides you with valuable insights into your traffic sources, popular posts, and visitor locations, among others.

To address the bot filtering issue, there’s always room for improvement, so if you have more specific details about the bots you are willing to filter out, please let me know.

Unfiltered bot traffic artificially inflates page views, creating an unrealistic impression of high activity that does not reflect genuine visitors.

As I mentioned in my review, I use Ahrefs to scan my site weekly, which occasionally leads to increased page views for that specific day.

I suspect that Jetpack Stats does not filter out the bots that Ahrefs uses to scan my site.
