• Hi all,
I am very new to using wordpress and need a quick fix fully explained if possible. I’ve been searching for hours but nothing seems to work.

Would like to have a page that displays blog posts from a certain date range. Or with a certain category/tag.

I am using a theme that I did not create (Adapt) and I don’t know how to “go into directory” to create a new page. Again, I’m new and working super quick to get this up today.

    Here is my site:

    https://www.chasingubuntu.com

And here is the page I’d like to only show posts from 2009:
    https://www.chasingubuntu.com/journal/ecuador-blog/

Any help would be appreciated. Thank so much!

    Thanks,

Can you explain what this means, from the page of posts link:

“If you are using another theme, you need to replicate the HTML structure of your own theme within the template.
Save this to pageofposts.php and then assign the Page of Posts Template to your new Page:

Where do I find the HTML structure and how do I create a knew template?

Where do I find the HTML structure

See your theme’s page.php template file.

how do I create a knew template?

    See custom page template.

I’m sorry clearly I’m missing something. What does this mean, from the custom page template link:

The files defining each Page Template are found in your Themes directory under /wp-content. To create a new Custom Page Template for a Page you must create a file. Let’s call our first Page Template snarfer.php.

How do you CREATE a File?!
    Thanks!!!

You create the new file in a plain text editor such as NotePad and then upload the file to your theme’s folder in wp-content/themers.

okay this is on the road to making sense. How do I “Upload the file to my theme’s folder in wp-content/themers?”
    thanks!!

Use FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

I don’t understand. I’m very new. I use bluehost but I edit through wordpress
Do I also need an FTP?

Can you make this a bit more simple? I’ve been trying for hours.

    Thanks so much

Do I also need an FTP?

For this kind of work, yes.

Can you make this a bit more simple?

I’m sorry but this is not a simple process. The Codex pages I pointed to are about as simple as it get when you are creating custom templates with custom queries.
