?page=2 works but page/2 doesn't

I’m working with genesis and using taxonomy-event-categories.php to list my category page.
I have 5 items in a page. When paging to the second page using /page/2 I get 404 error.
When using ?page=2 it works.
How can I change the link to be ?page=X ?Thanks
