My “page_enhanced” folder has gotten totally bloated.

There is/was over 25 GB of inodes and it’s causing a problem with my webhost.

There seems to be multiple of these type of entries like this:

    "/lifelearningtoday.com/public_html/wp-content/cache/page_enhanced/lifelearningtoday.com/2017/04/04/create-your-beautiful-life/nggallery/www.linkedin.com/pub/k-stone/4/961/335/www.linkedin.com/pub/k-stone/4/961/www.linkedin.com/pub/k-stone/4/961/335/www.linkedin.com/pub/k-stone/4/961/www.linkedin.com/pub/k-stone/4/961/335/ahref=/ahref=/ahref=/www.linkedin.com/pub/k-stone/4/961/www.linkedin.com/pub/k-stone/4/961/www.linkedin.com/pub/k-stone/4/961/www.linkedin.com/pub"

Like thousands. All similar or same. I can’t tell exactly.
I have my FTP deleting them all.
It’s been going all day and so far it’s processed 25,700 files in 29,000 directories.

    My questions are
    1. how the heck did this happen? This seems like a bug or error somehow.
    2. how can I keep this from happening again?
    3. I’m afraid that it’s filling them faster than FTP can delete them. (I’m not sure)
    4. Is there a quicker way to delete these files?
    5. I can’t even deactivate the W3 plugin. How can I do that?

    Thank you.

    Hello @agentsully

Thank you for reaching out and I am happy to assist you with this.
The pages are cached when visited, so the pages are not cached automatically unless the Cache Preload option is enabled and the correct XML sitemap is provided in the W3TC Cache preload settings. Or the cronjob on the server is configured to crawl your entire website, in which case the pages will be cached.
Depending on the number of pages, the size of the cached files can be huge. There is also a chance that the _old files are not removed, and this may occur if the wp_cron is disabled and in this case, the garbage collection interval which is by default 3600s, and is used to remove _old files may not have a chance to fire.
Can you please confirm if you are using a cache preload in W3TC settings or if you have a cronjob setup on your server?
    Thanks!
