Pages and Posts… how to structure my site

Hi,

I’m trying to create a portfolio site, the portfolio site will have the following types of “pages”;

– Homepage (output latest work and blogs)
– Work page (output all latest work)
– Work detail page (shows details about each peice of work with multiple images)
– Blog listing (output all blogs)
– Blog detail (displaying full blog with comments)
– About page
– Contact page

So I’ve got the homepage setup to output all blog posts and work posts (these have been done with categories on posts) however I want a different layout on the work detail page to the blog detail page, is this possible? or will I have to make all work items separate pages as children of the work page? Can I still easily output the latest three work pages onto the homepage if they are pages instead of posts?
