• I’m having pages and posts throw HTTP Error 404. I’ve never encountered this before. It’s a new install, Genesis child theme, everything is up to date. This is not the WordPress 404 error, this is an HTTP error. The permalink shows up in the browser bar but the page isn’t there, instead the web HTTP Error 404 shows.

I go to create a new page or post and give it content, save as draft or publish it and I get the error.

I’ve created custom permalinks with category and postname correctly and have updated the permalinks a few times.

Is this something being caused by the server, server OS, server settings, or database being corrupt?

The problem wasn’t with Genesis, it was with ServerPress. I love and use ServerPress all of the time, but for this one WP installation on ServerPress I had used an ampersand in the dev URL. ServerPress doesn’t like ampersands or some other special characters.
