Pages and topics there…but not?

Got a very odd problem.

I used wordpress to set-up a simple site for my in-laws dance school after seeing the awful two page site they were charged ￡500 per annum for.

Had a call off of them earlier to say “it’s all disappeared” – all the content seems to have disappeared, the front page had a sticky post as a welcome and then other posts went as updates underneath, all that displays now is the Welcome title and date of post (so it’s obviously pulling that out of the DB) but all the message content is gone.

I can still log in as admin, so again it can definitely communicate with the database but when I view the pages or posts pages the top says there’s X posts/pages but then it says none found below:

I’ve tried a search but not even knowing what would be a good term to search with (hence the poor topic title) it didn’t yield any positive results – has anyone come across this before and know how to resolve it?

I’ve tried upgrading to v3 to see if it resolved things but no joy, I can see the posts/pages in the DB so know they’re there, I just need to get WP to show them again.
