After the problems with version 2.6.x I have now installed the new version 2.7.0. As soon as I edit a page and save it again, the plugin automatically creates an expiration date from the current date! Auto-Enable is set to Disabled.
Many customers have already called because their page is no longer accessible (because these are then saved as a draft) .
    WP 5.8.2. Theme GeneratePress.
What can I do about it?
    Thanks

  • Oddly, this update at first appeared to have fixed the problem and then did not. I checked about 6 pages and on all the “enable” box correctly remained unchecked. Then the next 6 or so that I opened all had the box checked. And when I went back and checked the first 6 those now opened with the enable box checked when it should not be checked. I’m not sure how to account for this but I thought I’d mention it in case it provided any clues to the cause.

Please update to version 2.7.1 of the plugin.

If that doesn’t work, try using “Bulk Edit” to update the expiration details for your content.

If that doesn’t work, please open a new thread here, or open a support ticket if you’re a PublishPress member.

Guys, please, also note that there was some changes on the JS files, so it worth double-checking if cleaning up the browser cache will help fixing the issue, specially if you use Gutenberg. Thanks.

We have the same issue. We also had it a few releases ago. It was broke, fixed in a follow up release, and now broke again. I cleared cache and problem persists. We will not be able to update until the issue is addressed. The expiration is checked with current date and time on any post being updated.

@adamvanbuskirk My experience with this problem was that while the box would automatically be checked when we opened a post or page to edit it, if I manually unchecked the box and then saved the post no expiration date would be set, so while the problem was annoying it did not prevent us from making updates.

@bghooke We have two many writers for that. This happened before and they never caught it and accidentally expired many posts. It was a big deal and not good because many of those pages were paid lead campaigns.

Also, for the authors, our issue is with 2.7.1. Prod has 2.7.0 and it does not expire updated posts (check the box by default). Staging and Dev systems have 2.7.1 and it is expiring them (checking the box by default on edit).

Hi, we have installed 2.7.1 but this has not resolved the problem of older posts having today’s date and ‘Enable Post Expiration’ in the PublishPress Future block automatically enabled. This appears to be any posts before around October/November time.

    Thanks guys for the feedback.
Please, could you try the following RC package?

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/su3osd9b1pv4gx4/post-expirator-2.7.2-rc.2.zip?dl=0

If you still have the issue, please, could you send us the metadata of the post that are prefixed with “_expiration-“.

    Thanks,

    Anderson

Tested the latest version 2.7.3. on a few projects and there the problem seems to be finally fixed.
How does it look for you?
I hope that was it now finally
    Thanks anyway already…

That’s good to hear, thanks @mgpp

If anyone else is still seeing this error, please open a new thread with these 3 details:

    1. Use a plugin like this to rollback to an earlier version: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-rollback/. What specific versions do work correctly?
    2. Disable other plugins one-by-one. Is there a plugin conflict here?
    3. Share a screenshot of both your “Defaults” and your “Post Type” settings.`

It’s looking good to me too. I tested on a website where I had been seeing the problem and it’s gone now. Thanks!!!
