In the past 30 days so much shit has been indexed by google, thanks to Yoast.

Now a new one that I just discovered:

My blog posts are indexed twice with two different URLs:

    1. The URL I set, such as:

This is The Title I Selected | Mywebsite.com

    2. and also like this:

    One Tag | mywebsite.com

    ??

    Any way to fix this?

(of course I have tag as no-index – show tags in search results > NO)

I am looking for an alternative to Yoast, any suggestions would be appreciated

  • I can’t say more without details. Second title doesn’t look as “Yoast template”.Could you send anything more except “title”? Is it “post tag” or something else. Could you check HTML source? Are og:title and title are same? Are there duplicates related to robots tag?

    Hi Sasa,

You sent me so many replies in many topics and honestly I am finding it a bit difficult to keep up with all the pieces of the puzzle.

It’s so many things from so many directions.

Maybe I can hire you or we can address all problems at once?
    Now I found another problem.
In Search Console the Sitelinks Searchbox URLs were 5 before, now in 1 day they became 110.

This happened on the 9th november, which is the day when I updated WP and updated Yoast.

    So, to recap:

My website was ranking #1 in google for many kw for years.
On the 9th november I updated WP and I updated Yoast and in 1 week:

    Google indexed 100+ directories
Google added 105 sitelink search URLs
URLs started being posted with funny characters
    My traffic was negatively affected

All this happened just after I updated WP and Yoast.

But before updating, I made a backup of my website.
Maybe I should just go and restore the backup?
    Would that help?

Is this your job? are you some technical seo expert?

    It isn’t by https://wordpress.org/support/guidelines.

I’ve Yoast contributor on github. I’ve submitted some PRs and I’m trying to help “WP community”.

Ok, but what do you think about the “Sitelinks Searchbox” going from 5 to 111 in one day?

Could this be connected with loss of traffic?
Is it connected with the directories?

I’m not SEO expert, but I know a lot of technical details.

I can’t say more details without URLs. www.ads-software.com has integration with slack – it’s way to send URL privately.

    Hi, ok thanks,
    I deleted that part.

Could you tell me if you think the sitelinks searchbox URLs going from 5 to 111 in one day is connected with the rest of the problems?

There are probably a lot of various issues and penalties from google. I’m not sure how to easy find why posts are “duplicated” with different titles. Everything could be related.

Regarding the increase in the number of URLs in the Sitelinks searchbox report in Google Search Console, we don’t think this is causing any traffic loss or duplicate titles. Yoast SEO automatically outputs schema markup for the Sitelinks searchbox on your pages. Please, refer to this post for more information. Therefore, it’s expected that Google detects the relevant schema markup and reports it in the search console.

I have been using Yoast for 7 years. How come it started working 3 weeks ago then?

    Hi,

We are not sure why it is happening recently. We do know we output the site links search box on all pages. Google may have needed some time to crawl everything and output those URLs. As long as they are showing as valid without errors the sitelinks search box is working as expected.
