Hey, guys. Could really use your help here.

When installing the most recent version of WordPress, there’s been a problem with displaying pages. The main page works (matthewbecker.ca), but the sub-pages keep giving me a 404 error. When I log in, and go to the Pages section in my dashboard, the pages I created are there. I can go into them and edit them without a problem. But whenever I want to view them, I get this message:

“The requested URL /services/ [one of the pages out of five] was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”

The same thing goes when making new pages. It’s just not loading them. I’ve contacted my server to find out if it’s something on their end (which I suspected, since my account was suspended and they didn’t give me an explanation as to what’s happened). They tell me that the directories aren’t there. So I don’t know if it’s a server issue or a WordPress issue. Re-installing WordPress didn’t seem to solve anything.

Has anybody else had a problem with this? Any help would be amazing.

  • Try deleting your WP .htaccess file and then rebuilding your custom permalink structure.

    Aha!

Thank you, esmi. It’s funny, because when I went searching for that particular file…it was missing. Don’t know what happened to it. So I went to Permalinks and chose some different settings just so it creates that file again. Now everything works.

I don’t know if the server deleted it, or whatever happened, but it wasn’t there. It may have happened when the account was suspended.
