We’ve had a persistent problem since migrating this site from Flywheel (a managed host) to InMotion hosting (not managed): the homepage appears as “moorheadsculpturewalk.com” … but every other page shows our IP address rather than the domain name, which comes with a bunch of irksome little issues. We have already set the website and WordPress addresses as “moorheadsculpturewalk.com” under General Settings and have set the permalinks to display as “moorheadsculpturewalk.com/sample-post”.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

If you have access to your site’s dashboard, at SETTINGS => GENERAL, check if “Site Address (URL)” and “WordPress Address (URL)” are set to your actual domain name. In most cases, you want to change both have them be the same.

But if you manually created this link somewhere on your site, then you may have to drill down to where you made this link and change the URL.

    Hi, @t-p

Thanks so much for replying! Yes, both the “Site Address (URL)” and “WordPress Address (URL)” are both set to “moorheadsculpturewalk.com.” I can’t say how the original developer set up the other pages links/addresses within the site as they built it … however, they would have done so with a different IP than the one we currently have … so, it’s all a slightly buggy mystery to me.

since migrating this site from Flywheel

It looks to me that the system used to migrate your site inserted the IP instead of your new domain for some unknown reason on certain pages.

What I would do is load the ‘Better Search and Replace’ Plugin

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/better-search-replace/

Then search the database for all incedences of https://216.194.171.244/ and replace with https://moorheadsculpturewalk.com/

The plugin lets you do a search first without replace so you can try it out.

As always backup the website first just in case !

    Hi @jonathanrutter
I’m Jesse, the Developer Relations WordPress specialist at InMotion Hosting. I just wanted to let you know this is something we’re happy to help with if you’d like to contact our support team.

Better Search Replace is also an easy do-it-yourself option here, I just wanted to make a small correction to what @jim5471 said, you’ll need to replace the IP address and the /~username portion of the URL. I’d rather not put the username portion here in a public forum, but you can find it by copying the URL from your About link in your header.

So your search-and-replace will look like:
    Search: https://216.194.171.244/~username/
    Replace: https://moorheadsculpturewalk.com/

Thank you @jim5471 and @jessecowens … we’ll give that a try and report back soon. Jesse: I suspect I’ll be reaching out to InMotion’s support team in the future for other matters concerning the sculpture walk website and another project we’re trying to get off the ground.

    Cheers!

@jim5471 and @jessecowens … the technique with Better Search Replace worked like magic. Thanks again! And to reiterate, in the future we will absolutely be reaching out directly to InMotion Hosting support as well.
