• Hello,

I am using the Zerif-lite theme for my website. When I checked it in Pagespeed I got the following message:

Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content

From what I read on the internet, this is a common message when using themes (and thus also with Zerif).

I wanted to ask if anyone knows an easy way to fix this? Maybe through a plugin? (i tried ‘under the fold’ from optimalisatie.nl but I didn’t seem to help).

Or is this error message no big problem (for SEO) and can I just leave it the way it is?

    Thanks for thinking with me!
    Peter

Yes, leave it. Developers put scripts where they think they are needed, even if it seems like a “render-blocking” idea. These codes, and where they are, are what makes he site work, and if they are moved, the site may not work as expected.

Sites like Pagespeed and GT Metrix rate according to the maximum standards, some of which are realistically unattainable. Shaving micro-seconds off your page speed is not worth the time and effort, and does not change your “score” much.

Though loading speed and reducing server calls is important, what is most important is good engaging content and a user-friendly site.
