    Hi

    Love the plugin!
Using and testing different settings in LSCWP, I’ve increased my performance score on PSI from mid-20s to mid-80s, but there’s one issue I can’t resolve without losing some functionality of my site.

After running a test in PSI, the only opportunities left to improve now in ‘Reduce unused CSS’ and ‘Eliminate render-blocking resources’ seem to be identical and I can’t work out what to do to with them!

I’ve tried all the recommended fixes I can find online, but all of them break my site in some way.

Do you have any pointers, please?

    Hi
Many thanks for the quick reply.

I tried that and it makes my site completely unusable (viewing both on laptop and mobile).

    Hi

Another issue with PSI I have is that I am now getting a ‘Properly Size Images’ instruction in ‘Opportunities’.
I have deleted the old 700KB jpg image from ‘Media Library’, uploaded a new, compressed jpg 100KB version and tried every image size setting in Elementor but I can’t eliminate the instruction.

I’ve noticed in ‘Image Library’ that in the ‘LiteSpeed Optimisation’ column it states:

    i Orig saved 4% (optm)

    WebP—

It looks like the image isn’t being compressed and PSI is telling me that it can be so I guess that’s why the instruction is still there?

I’ve tried toggling off and on the WebP setting in ‘Image Optimisation’, but that hasn’t helped.

properly size the image indicates what resolution the image should be displayed within context, LSCWP will NOT resize images as changing its resolution , but only shrinks the size

for UCSS, you may need to check this page

    Thanks for that.

I went through the page step-by-step.
I excluded the file name linked in my first message to you. That one has stopped appearing in PSI.

Unfortunately, I now have two different files repeatedly causing an issue.
    This one…..

    https://vital50plus.com/wp-content/litespeed/css/dfa33d2441a777b81ef56a92ef394739.css?ver=efc55

…..shows up in both ‘Eliminate render-blocking resources’ and ‘Reduce unused CSS’ in PSI, even after I’ve excuded the partial string up to and including ‘.css’.
It’s exactly the same file each time I run a test, but the ‘ver’ number is different.

    This one…..

    https://vital50plus.com/wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.min.js

…..shows only in ‘Eliminate render-blocking resources’, but if I exclude it, my PSI score drops down from high-80s to low-20s.

As the page suggested, I tried turning off all the CSS and JS settings, but the site was noticeably slower.

Would the server/speed have any effect on the issues I’m seeing?

the UCSS will take time to generate , if you see file as /litespeed/css/xxxx , instead of /litespeed/ucss/xxx , this means the UCSS is not generated yet

and have you tried the guest mode and guest optimization ?

    Thread Starter jasperdemann

    (@jasperdemann)

If I enable ‘Generate UCSS’, ‘Guest Mode’ or ‘Guest Optimization’, the effect is the same; the site is totally unusable.

I’ve got 8 entries in ‘CSS Excludes’ now. Do I just keep adding them whenever they show up in PSI until there are no more?

This entry in ‘JS Excludes’ and ‘JS Deferred/Delayed Excludes’…

    https://vital50plus.com/wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.min.js

…doesn’t break my site any longer, but it still shows up in PSI ‘Eliminate render-blocking resources’. I can’t seem to get rid of it! Is that right?

if UCSS make it looks like , that is what I have posted link above , the UCSS was not perfectly generated and needs some manual adjusting.

exclude CSS won’t help on UCSS

    Okay, thanks.

I’m going to mark this as ‘resolved’ as I’m going to pass fixing it on to someone who knows more about this stuff than me!

    Thanks for your help.
