Pagination gives 404 error

I have a problem with the pagination. The links on page numbers gives a broken link. For example, my products are displayed in a page with url …/product-page. when I click page number 2 it goes to url ../product-page-2/2 and it gives 404 error.
I am using a custom template built with roots sage.
Any advice on what to check. Thanks
