Pagination gives 404 not found error

I’ve found that the pagination links output by this plugin give a 404 Not Found error unless the site’s permalinks are set to Plain. I have tried resaving the permalink structure after activating the plugin, and I’ve tried deactivating and reactivating the plugin.

This has happened on my dev site and live site, on two different servers. I’ve tested with the default Twentyseventeen theme and all other plugins disabled, but that hasn’t fixed the issue. I’m using Cooked v1.4.0.2, and this is a clean install (not an update).

Since we only have 18 recipes on the site now, I’ve simply set the plugin to display 18 recipes on a page. But this solution won’t last for long.
