Pagination on a Category Posts block

I can see a lot of others asking for pagination on the latest posts block and also the devs refusing. Can I suggest then a similar block that does allow you to choose what categories to show and has pagination? For instance, if I have a page called ‘Reviews’ and it’s using the reviews category. The Latest Posts block is nice. But I don’t want the reviews to vanish due to no pagination. And while there are plugins that do this they often are ugly, or paid for or something. A default ‘keep it simple stupid’ block similar to the latest posts block style options would be very useful to many of us.

I did try that but the styling looked pretty bad compared to latest posts. On Latest posts I have the featured image on the left and the text on the right. The only way to have images at all either makes it huge at top of the text or in the grid, shows the images all different sizes. So latest posts offers style options but Query loop has next to none.
