Paid Memberships

I’m setting up a new site and need to have a way to charge members an annual fee and once they pay they get greater access to the site, for example they can upload photos or get access to certain content (Articles, etc.), maybe be able to do things like send each other private messages etc. I initially installed BuddyPress per my host’s recommendation and while it works fine, it doesn’t have any way to charge for membership access levels. I was wondering if this plug-in has that ability, the FAQ doesn’t say and searching here just brings up topics about competing plug-ins. TIA!
