• After upgrading to WP 3.1, paragraph tags <p> are no longer added to the html editor if text is copied to the Visual editor. When I add the paragraph tags manually and save them in the html editor, they disappear if I toggle to the Visual editor, merging all paragraphs without breaks and messing up my posts. Is this a WP 3.1 bug? Please help.

  • Have you tried:

    – checking through Troubleshooting WordPress 3.1 – Master List

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I’m having a similar problem. I’m brand new to WordPress so I may just be doing something dumb.

In the HTML view I enter paragraph tags…

    <p>Hello World</p>

When I switch to the Visualizer view and then back to HTML the paragraph tags are gone.

    Hello World

Not sure what version of WordPress I have (just installed it at GoDaddy so it’s probably very recent).

I switched from the twenty eleven back to the twenty ten theme and it didn’t help. Not sure how to disable add-ons. Any help would be much appreciated….it’s very frustrating not being able to create my first page!
