I’ve switched over to the free version of Pretty Link recently (and really liking it), but I have a question. One of my affiliate partners has asked me to add a parameter to my credit card links but I’m unsure how to do it.

Here’s an example – let’s say I already have in place a link for a credit card:
    ABC Credit Card
    Target URL: creditcardcompany.com/123abc
    Pretty Link: mydomain.com/go/abc-card

I have the pretty link used in a number of different posts, too.

Now, they want me to add a parameter of let’s say “?tracker123”.

So that would make my pretty link in the setup: mydomain.com/go/abc-card?qsoffer

The question is, do I make the change in the pretty link dashboard for that URL or just in each post that contains it? Or both?

Also, right now, I don’t have the “Parameter Forwarding” checkbox checked in Pretty Link for that link… should it be?

Sorry, if these are silly questions. I’ve gone through the FAQs and couldn’t find exactly what I’m looking for (or I overcomplicated in my head!).

    Thanks!

Ok, I think I figured this out after testing a few options. I left my links alone in the Pretty Link dashboard, but I did check the box for “Parameter Forwarding” for each of them.

Then I added the “?qsoffer” to my Pretty Link URLs I was using in my posts. In other words, each link in my post now says something along the lines of mydomain.com/go/abc-card?qsoffer.

Once I did those two things, when I would click on one of those links, it opened up to the new full link and carried the parameter with it.

So I think it’s now good, but thought I’d share in case anyone’s in the same boat I was.

    Good luck!
