Parameters for 'featured image'…?

    I have searched the Forum for ‘featured image not showing up in Facebook or Google+ posts’, when I add a ‘blog post to my WP website & there are a dizzying number of Support requests for this problem!

    One thing that appears to be common is that there are certain parameters that the featured image must be within. Where can I find the definitive answer for these parameters – accepted file type (jpg/png/gif), file size (Kb/Mb), dimensions (pixels?), etc – & why does it not tell me when I set a featured image that the image is not within these parameters?

    As you can probably tell, my featured image doesn’t appear from my website ‘blog on my posts in FB or G+ (the text is there, but just a blank outline that resembles the ‘Michelin Man’ with a grey background). The parameters MAY NOT be the issue, but I’m trying to save myself time & effort following responses to every related post & trying the most common solution first!

    WP site URL: https://www.dj-nostalgia.co.uk (add /blog for ‘blog page) – the featured image I want is the DJ Nostalgia ‘vinyl disc’ logo which appears in some of the latest ‘blog posts.
