Trying to organize pages in my back-end.

A “dummy” parent page would be perfect – but it shows up in the URL… (I want all my landing pages to appear together in the WP back-end for quick access)

I tried to shorten the canonical URL to omit the parent – but that does not seem to work (please let me know if it should)

Is there a way other than a plugin I can get this to work? Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you!

  • A child page will always have the parent’s slug in URL, just as a subfolder on your computer always has the parent folder in its path.

If your only goal is to organize the pages in the backend, then don’t use parent-child relationships. Instead, several plugins can organize pages in virtual folders/subfolders.

Note the keyword “virtual” here: these plugins don’t use WordPress parent/child relations, and they don’t create any physical folders on the hosting server. Their “virtual folders” are only to organize content in the dashboard.

Thanks George! (Definitley looking for “virtual” yes.) Appreciate the feedback and education. Exactly what I was looking for.
