• It’s been a while since I created a new page on my existing website. Today I am doing so, and discovered that these new pages don’t appear in the list to select as a Parent Page. I tried installing the Classic Editor plugin, but that didn’t help. Using Quick Edit doesn’t help either. These new pages just don’t appear in the list. Is there any solution? I’m using WordPress 5.8.3 and running the Spacious theme.

    *are the new pages published?
*can you share the URL for each of the new pages?

try this: install health check plugin which can be used in troubleshooting mode to deactivate all plugins and theme might help narrow down the source of the issue

Yes, the new pages are published, but Private, so I cannot share them. I don’t want them publicly accessible until they’re all ready and I get the hierarchy issues sorted out.

Hello @sholroyd. Have you published the new page or is it still saved as a draft? In my experience, only published pages appear in the list of possible parent pages. As such, if the new page is still saved as a draft it won’t appear in that list.

As I noted above, they are published, but Private. But even if I make them public, that doesn’t solve the issue. They still don’t appear in the Parent Pages list.

*can you publish a test page, not private, to see if it can be set as a parent?
*do you have a private staging site to test on?

The Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin says there are no issues with my site.

I changed one of them to Public and it still didn’t appear in the list. This seems to be an old issue, related to the change to Guttenberg, but I can’t find any solution that works for me, and every thread I’ve found about it is more than a year old.

    UPDATE

Okay, using the Classic Editor and making the pages both live, I was finally able to see the Parent Page that I wanted to assign. It still doesn’t show in Quick Edit, but it does in the full Classic Editor. So I guess that’s solved, but not sure exactly what solved it.
