I’ve been trying to use the Parent>child page feature in WP, but so far, no matter what permutation I use, parent page shows blank.

I’ve just installed a fresh 5.3.2 WP install with no plugins, and no matter which of the preloaded official WP theme I choose, the parent page comes up blank, however the children pages do show the parent>child peramlink:
    https://localhost/sandbox/new-main/section-1/

Isn’t this suppsed to be a ready-to-use feature? First I thought Incubator Theme was mixing up the feature, but now not even a new, fresh WP install I haven’t been able to make it work.

    I’m running a localhost install under Windows 10, Apache 2.4, PHP 7.4.

    What am I missing?

If you don’t put content on the parent page, there’s not going to be content on the parent page.

What is the use of the parent>child attribute then?

Children content will not appear on the parent page unless the parent page template is modified then?

There are plugins that you can use to bring content from child pages onto the parent, or you can code it. The “purpose” is to have the relationship shown in the URL. For example, if you had “about” as a parent page and then “staff”, “mission and goals” as children. The parent page could be a summary page or something totally different.

I understand now. I greatly misunderstood the documentation. Thanks a lot for the explanation and links.
