I have products in multiple categories, and have set a parent category, however the default permalink is using the last category selected alphabetically rather than the parent. For example, this product is in the “guides” and “new arrivals” categories. I want the “guides” category to be in the default permalink as I’ll eventually remove the product from the “new arrivals” category and it will break the link if it’s used as the default.

No, that post is a different problem. I apologize, I said parent when I meant “primary category.” I’m not receiving 404 errors, all the permalink work fine, they just aren’t pulling the primary category into the permalink automatically. Instead it’s choosing the last category that the product is in alphabetically.

I would like my product permalink to use the set primary category automatically in the permalink rather than the last alphabetical category that the product is in.

For example, the product I linked is in the “new arrivals” and “guides” categories. I selected “guides” to be the primary category, however, the permalink is using the last alphabetical category for the permalink. So it’s defaulting with “new arrivals” in the permalink instead of “guides”

    Hi there,

May I know how you decide which category is the primary category?
