• Hi,

    My website is https://antontammi.com/
The site went down after I edited “Showcase Template Page Template” in Appearance>Editor.

Now there only reads this line:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’ in /home/content/49/8113349/html/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/functions.php on line 521

I can’t even go to admin. Can’t login or do anything.

I know that I did an error to the CSS-code in the “Showcase Template Page Template”. After that all went down. But I can’t change the error anymore, since the whole site is down.

What can I do to go back to the code and change it back like it was. (I have copy pasted the right working CCS-code for myself.)

My domain is brought via WordPress and it is Automattic that hosts everything.

Hope some of you can help me :p

    + my theme is Twenty-Eleven.

The error isn’t your css file, it is your functions.php file. You can edit that file via ftp.

You should not be modifying any theme files- especially in a default theme – as your changes will be lost when WP is updated. Instead use a Child Theme – https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Child_Themes

To fix this problem, you can use FTP access to replace that file with a new copy – just download a new copy of the theme to your local computer and upload that file via FTP.

Thanks for all the help so far.

So I’m supposed to use the file manager provided in my host’s control panel.
Now, I’m a little amateur in all this, but I think my host is Automattic.
So how can I go to the control panel?
What do I have to do to be able to use FTP?
Should I a program like cPanel?

WPyogi: I think I don’t have to download a new copy of my theme, since I copypasted and saved the original code that there was in “Showcase Template Page Template”.

(Sorry for these incredible stupid sounding questons. Datalingua aint’ my thing.)

+ How to make shure who is my hosting provider?

Is your site on WordPress.COM? Unlikely, as you cannot modify files on sites there. Who do you pay for hosting ?

It’s www.ads-software.com. Because I can edit my CSS or PHO or what ever it is. Byt I can edit it.

I got my domain and hosting from WordPress Store, so what is it then, the host? The default host of WordPress. Automattic? https://automattic.com/

++ I have Mac. Do you think this Cyberduck could help me?
    https://cyberduck.ch/

Who do you pay for hosting? (Automattic is the company that owns WordPress.COM – it’s not your host even if your domain name is registered through them)

Yes, you can use Cyberduck but you have to get the FTP connection info from the hosting company.

    Looks like it’s GoDaddy –

So, to beging I have to contact GoDaddy via email and ask them: What is my FTP connection info? (Do you think such a huge company will answer?)

And then after that I have figure out how to use Cyberduck? And then I can copypaste that original “Showcase Template Page Template” back to it’s place?

Thanks once again for all the help!

The link above (for GoDaddy) should help you find your FTP info. But, yes for additional help you have to ask theme – they DO have custom support. FTP is not part of WP – we cannot help you with a hosting question like that.
