    Hello,

I was trying to change one of my plugin options and stupidly copied and pasted some things into my themes area under theme options….I deleted what I had originally pasted but now I am getting the following message when I even attempt to go to my site:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/content/88/9147888/html/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/inc/theme-options.php on line 534

I can’t access ANYTHING now and keep getting that message. My site is https://www.thecounter-culture.com

If you’re able to help, please, please do…I have no idea how to fix this and I’m sure I entered something in the “themes” area incorrectly…I just copied and pasted what it said to copy and paste but I’m thinking I put it in the wrong area….I’m not very well versed at this yet and am worried I just erased a years worth of really hard work.

    Laura.

A little bit of an update…I’m now in my hosting company site (Godaddy) and am in the FTP File manager section and unsure as to how proceed. I can find themes, theme editor and theme install but I have NO idea what to do next…

Do you have your site backed up?

Sadly I don’t….I know, I know, I should have done this…Is there nothing I can do once I’m in the FTP file manager under themes to change it back or revert to an earlier date or anything???

I just also went through a similar problem but had the code backed up, my advice is back up your Public_html folder before you do anything else.

You could then perhaps delete the theme and manually install another through FTP.

Dont take my word though as i’m not a professional, but as long as you have your public_html file backed up you wont have to worry about making mistakes.

Can you remember which file you edited?

I copied and pasted some codes from a premium plug in (what the owner of the plug in told me to do) into themes and I believe theme options at the bottom right of the screen directly in my blog, not on my FTP site…then I pressed save and received that error message so I went back in and deleted what I had added and it still gave me the same error message and when I refreshed, it was only the error message that showed up and I couldn’t access my wp-admin area at all. Now I’m in the FTP site from Godaddy. Sorry that I’m not very technical with this…I don’t even know how to back up the public_html file because I can’t even locate it!

So I went into Godaddy forums to try to find the public_html and I found this: We do not have a /public_html or similar path on our accounts. When you access the account via FTP, the root directory which you access is the public area for the account. Sorry if that caused any confusion.

    What does it mean?

I figured it out with the help of my friend (now my BEST friend)…Thanks so much for your assistance; I really appreciate it!
