  • Hi

Unless you ever edited the file /wp-admin/plugins.php the error is probably coming from a plugin.

In your FTP program, find the folder /wp-content/plugins/
Make a new folder in /wp-content/, call it temp

Move everything that is in /wp-contet/plugins/ into the folder /temp/

Then see if WP still shows that error, or if it starts up OK. If it still shows the error something is wrong with the plugins.php file. More likely it will start up OK. If it does, start moving folders back into /plugins/ from /temp/ one folder at a time. As you move a folder, start WP up again. More than likely one of the plugin folders will cause that error message to start displaying again. That means there is something wrong in that plugin’s code so don’t use that one plugin. All the others you can use.

    Hi stvwlf

I did delete all plugins and started one at a time but still no joy ((::

I have tried the Temp folder and still no joy I dont know what I have done ?????

I have Akismet and Hello Dolly left in the folder ????

    Regards
    Linda

Next step would be download fresh copy of WP 2.7.1 and upload just the one file /wp-admin/plugins.php , overwriting the one that is there now

    GRGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

    That didnt work either !!!!

I even deleted data base on server and re-installed again :))))

just for the sake of knowing, since you are in this deep anyway, do a whole new WP install from scratch, different database, in a different folder in your hosting account. make sure you download a fresh copy of 2.7.1 This is just to see if it works ok in a whole other installation, or if the problem occurs on the new installation also. If its occurring on a second installation, that points to some server config issue. What, I have no idea. Who is your webhost by the way?

Im using 000webhosting at the Mo !!!

And Everything had been working fine till I uploaded a few new plugins
Then it turned to custard ((::::

well then the problem IS the plugins

you say you are recreating the database from scratch….

take the plugins OUT of the plugin folder before you recreate the database

see that WP is running correctly with a brand new database.

then move the plugins into the folder ONE AT AT time, and activate one plugin. If you do it that way you will most likely find one particular plugin is causing the error. The problem is its settings are probably still in the database, thus you want to start with a fresh database and no plugins in the plugin folder (you can leave akismet and hello since they come with WP)
