    Just manually uploaded over FTP WordPress 4.2, and I receive the error:

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /…/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1227

    when I load /wp-admin.

    I’ve uploaded 4.2 again but the error remains.

  • Download 4.2 again, delete wp-db.php and then upload a fresh version of that file.

    Excellent. Thank you schulte. That fixed it.

    There were quite a few other files that spat an error.

    I wonder why the first copy of 4.2 was faulty?
