Parse error: syntax error, unexpected error

  • I tried to do a custom codings in the functions.php section, and ended up getting this message:

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘&’ in /home/wagiboco/public_html/wp-content/themes/fifteen/functions.php

    Now I can’t even open the website. What should I do to restore to previous condition?

  • You’ll need to replace that file with a new copy – using FTP or Cpanel to access your site files on the server. Ask your hosts how to use those if you don’t know.

    Or just delete the entire theme from the themes folder on the server and then reinstall the theme from the Dashboard. BTW, it’s not a good idea to modify theme files – except in a child theme –
