parse error, unexpected $

  • I have not installed any updates recently – yesterday all of the sudden I started getting:
    Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /homepages/35/d219536753/htdocs/blog/wp-content/themes/semiologic/utils/footer.php on line 173

    No matter what page of my blog I try to pull up…even the login screen I get this error. I do not know where to start.
