Parse Error when installed

This is usually related to using an older version of PHP. Do you know what version you have installed?

I am using Hostgator as a host, it looks like PHP V5.4, WordPress V4.7.2

Since it’s possible to change what version you are running, it’s hard to tell what’s causing the error. I was unable to recreate it on PHP 5.4. I will continue looking into this.

If you can contact your host or check your Cpanel, could you find out exactly what version you are running, please?

I just tried changing PHP version in my cPanel…it looks like it installed okay now. Thanks for the guidance.

This looks like your purchase information, but it is possible that the version has been changed from this.

It’s possible to change the PHP version in your site settings to allow an older version of PHP to function in case your code doesn’t work with the latest PHP version.

I need to double check that you are, in fact, running 5.4. If you’re not sure how to find it, could you ask your host? This is the most common cause of this issue and I want to make sure that it’s not the case here.
