• After uploading all the files to my site and trying to run the install.php I get this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /homepages/46/d92812074/htdocs/my-webiste-name/blog/wp-includes/option.php on line 225

I only edited the wp-config.php file to set my database settings. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

  • Are you using the same version of WordPress on the same physical server hosted by the same hosts with the same plugins, theme & configurations as the original poster? No? Then post a new topic.

LOl – do you even know that? Have you asked? You are not a very helpful moderator.

Esmi – not sure why you are deleting my replys.

If you read the people posts above – you will notice that these are FRESH installations. There are no plugins installed.

Also – look at the root structure. They are all exactly the same. This would imply that these are indeed on a similar environment.

Additionally – for you information – I have just resolved this issue. This is indeed a PHP version issue for me. WP3 requires PHP 5 and this particular hosting environment was running on a lesser version. Has the host upgrade to PHP 5.2 and all appears to be working smooth.

    aarongeiser might be right.

After I had this error on WP 3.4, I installed WP 3.3.2 and it reported

Your server is running PHP version 4.4.9 but WordPress 3.3.2 requires at least 5.2.4.

So probably the same problem was with WP 3.4. But it responded in such strange way.

Your posts not deleted. They were caught in the spam filter and had to be cleared out manually. Your issue is different. Next time I suggest you check the minimum requirements for WordPress 3.4. PHP 5.2.4 has been required since 3.0.

Personally, I try not to make assumptions when trying to assist posters.
