What version of php are you using?

There should be no problem with php7. It installed and ran correctly on at least one other site.

I’d suggest perhaps downloading it again from the wordpress site (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ewz-rating/) just in case there was a network glitch during upgrade.

If that doesn’t work, the error message you show gives no clue as to where in thousands of lines of code it occurred. Is there any further information in your log files? At least the name of the file in which the error appeared.

I downloaded it again and the error came up as soon as I activated the plug-in.

I deleted the plugin and installed the previous version and everything is fine.

The error-log under public_html showed no errors. Are there other locations that I should be looking at for further error information?

I should note that the new version crashes my site. So the error message appears instead of the home page. … Not sure if that helps.

    That’s strange.

The default place for wordpress php errors to show is in wp-content/debug.log. It’s not uncommon for that to be in a different place, but the location would be specified in your wp-config.php file.

I’ve just heard of another club that updated yesterday in the middle of a judging (something I would NOT recommend!) and had no problems, so it must be something specific on your site.

It might be worth trying an upgrade of php. You do have a rather early version of PHP 7, and there were a lot of bugfixes between your version and 7.1.

I’ve emailed a file containing what might be a fix to your cameraclub email address.

Please let me know what happens.

It turned out that debug logging was not turned on for my site. I turned it on and did the update and everything worked great!

I thought I was going crazy but then I noticed that it at upgraded to 1.1.17. This version fixed the problem.

Thanks for your prompt reply and fix. I love the EWZ products.

If possible, I’d suggest upgrading your php version. The problem turned out to be a space at the end of a line, that was accepted from version 7.3 on. WordPress recommends 7.4.
