• Hello *,

I’m new here and absolutely new to WP also.
I’ve just been asked to migrate a WP website from one server to another.
Old server is some RedHat Linux. New server is Debian 6, ssh root access. They handed me a copy of the hosted files and a dump of the database.
I recovered the database into the new MySQL server, then edited wp-config.php in order to match new db name, user and password. While I was at it, I reset the wp admin user password (in the wp-users table), since I didn’t know the old one.

So far so good, I can login into the admin panel of WP.

However the public site shows only some parts of the homepage. The generated HTML file is way shorter than the one on the old server.
Are there any checks I can do to verify permissions and the like? Or, can you wp-experts foresee the problem even with this little information? (’cause I’m soooo noooob that I suspect the problem is soooo easy to fix for anyone with little more experience than me…).

    Thanks in advance.
    Lucio.

Now I have, thanks. However nothing written there applies to my case, i.e. I had already done everything that document suggests (only database name and password changed in the move, the domain, home directory and permalinks are the same…)
